Tim Willey is a wood artist and ceramicist based in Norfolk. He started his career studying ceramics and then went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Sculpture. Tim has previously lectured, and gained his doctorate in, the relationship between ecological systems and sculpture. He is well known for his development and teaching of “Adaptive Construction”: an evolutionary approach used in the creation of his pieces, working with ‘the materials at hand’ and allowing the working situation to dictate outcomes.
Through the initial support of the Crafts Council, Tim has a well-established workshop practice which is now based in North Norfolk where he manages 12 acres of mixed woodland. This provides him with a perfect environment for his work and provides a continuous supply of sustainable materials.
